SCOME is proud to announce that our Back to Basics campaign is back! Together with a medical professional, we’ve planned an 8 hour course titled “Clinical Rheumatology: A Comprehensive Approach to Rheumatic Conditions”
Are you ready to explore the world of Rheumatology? Join us on this educational journey lead by Dr. Nicholas Aquilina, a higher specialist trainee and expert in the field! This course is open to all clinical year students and has been carefully designed to provide you with a brief introduction to rheumatological conditions which one might come across on the wards and may even be assessed during exams.

What’s in store?
Session 1 - Introduction to Rheumatology - Dive into the history, examination techniques, procedures, investigations, and the fascinating world of immunology. Discover the essence of our department's work.
Session 2 - Connective Tissue Disease Workshop - Explore topics often left out in traditional lectures and tutorials, including lupus, systemic sclerosis, poly/dermatomyositis, Sjogren's, and MCTD.
Session 3 - Spondyloarthritis Workshop - Get in-depth with ankylosing spondylitis, psoriatic arthritis, reactive arthritis, uveitis, and more.
Session 4 - Clinical Cases Workshop - Prepare for exams by working through real clinical cases together.
Certification
By attending at least 75% of the course hours, you will be eligible for a Degree Plus Recognised Certificate, allowing this short refresher course to be listed on you University Transcript once you graduate.
