Calling all aspiring and current MMSA Peer Educators! SCOPET, SCORA and SCORP are excited to present to you our second collaborative workshop of the term which will give importance to and prioritise sensitivity!
We have invited two experts who we believe will give us a holistic overview of how to approach topics of a sensitive nature which is not only necessary for our sensitive peer education sessions but will also prove to be beneficial to our patient communication!
Our first speaker Prof. Anne Marie Callus, who is the Head of the ACCESS Disability Support Unit as part of Faculty for Social Wellbeing will give us more insight into how to integrate students with learning disabilities by adopting methods of communication which better suit their needs, and promote inclusivity.
We will then be joined by Dr. Daniel Vella Fondacaro who is a Psychiatrist and Secretary General to the Association for Child and Adolescent Mental Health who will offer us his expertise on topics relating to children’s mental health and how this all ties in to promote sensitivity in our language, both as aspiring MMSA Peer Educators but even more so as aspiring doctors!
This workshop is essential to all those interested in becoming MMSA Peer Educators since it will focus on educating our aspiring speakers to make them more aware of the impact of their words when discussing sensitive topics relating to mental health, and sexual and reproductive health.
Since this workshop is being held for the very first time, it is important that all MMSA members who are looking to apply for peer education sessions this year attend!
When? Wednesday 26th October at 5-7pm
