Beat the Burn Campaign ~ Public Health

The beat the burn campaign was launched through the introductory campaign for students who will be part of this summer's team. The workshop was a training session that served to equip them with the necessary knowledge and skills required for the peer education sessions at summer schools and beach outreaching sessions that are at the core of this campaign. The Beat the Burn coordinators delivered a presentation sharing key information needed for both types of sessions as well as outlining peer education session plans for different age groups of children. The participants then had the chance to prepare their own interactive session and were given feedback.

This year's campaign is sponsored by Eucerin and we are grateful to have the opportunity to be able to offer the public samples of sun screen during our outreaches thanks to this collaboration. A representative of Eucerin gave a brief talk about the product and each participant in the workshop was given their own product bag which included a sun screen bottle to be used during outreaches and an informatory leaflet.

The campaign is endorsed by the Malta Association for dermatology and venereology (MADV). Dr Michael Boffa, the president of MADV, delivered a presentation on skin cancer and photo protection.

The Beat the Burn Week will take place between the 17th-24th July to kick off the campaign through a jam-packed week of sessions.
